We discuss the transition phase from exploitation of the gas deposits with extraction coefficients (GEC) close to unity to exploitation of the gas deposits with relatively low filtration-capacitive characteristics (FCC), which is related to the problem that a substantial gas fraction remains in a stratum. We review previous studies of final productive capacity, offer a classification scheme for deposits with different FCC’s and GEC’s, and show that a reliable determination of GEC is possible at a later stage of deposit exploitation only. Finally, we discuss the ways to increase the GEC during deposit exploitation.
